Snow Days

Dress For the Weather:

Wildcats love the snow. Please ensure your little Wildcat is dressed appropriately for the weather so they can play and learn comfortably throughout the day.

From the district snow policy:

The district will try to determine school closures due to inclement weather by 6:30 a.m. We will communicate to parents as soon as possible using a variety of methods including social media and school and district websites. Staff, students and parents should assume that schools will be open every day during the school year.

If schools are open, and you wish to keep your child home due to weather conditions, you may do so. Please let your school know of this decision. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's safe travel to school. If possible, we encourage parents to walk their children to school in poor weather conditions.

To reach as many people as possible - as quickly as possible - we work closely with our local media to share information. Listen to local radio stations and follow local news outlets online to also get information about the impact of severe weather or emergencies in our schools. No radio or television announcement will be made saying that schools are open.  Only school closures will be announced by the media.

With the onset of colder weather, we would like to outline what you can expect from us on a snow day. Our school will remain open if at all possible. No announcement will be made saying that schools will be open. Only closures will be announced via radio on CKNW AM 980, News AM 1130, CBC AM 690, Fairchild AM 1470, CHQM FM 103.5 In addition, a scrolling notice will be placed on the district web site and a voice message on the district switchboard (604-668-6000). Closures will be announced as early as possible. Please do not phone the school to check if school is open, as staff will be busy ensuring students are safe
