Our Learning: Update 2023

This year staff committed to refining our professional development on Social Emotional Learning as evidenced from a scan of school community members in June of 2022. It was noted that post- pandemic there was a degree of anxiety that permeated our community. To that end all staff participated in the certification process led by District support in all staff taking “EASE” training in September 2022 to assist in the post pandemic transition process for our learning community. The Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators, training is provided by HealthyMindsBC  and the Ministry of Education and emphasizes the connections between Behaviour, Thoughts and Feelings as a focus of Social Emotional Learning.

We further continued to refine and concentrate on aspects of literacy intervention, literacy education and flexible learning spaces. We are committed to participating in professional learning with colleagues throughout the district and within our own school. Our school-based Professional Development included learning in these areas. Aside from our formal learning and growth, our professional development activities are shared at each staff. Through each initiative collaboration and engagement increase. Our school is excited to continue in connecting to our learning community as we proceed with enhancing our understanding and methodology in support of our learning.
